Jonas urges brotherhood to help maintain peace

CEBU, Philippines ,Philippines  - Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes has urged members of the Guardians Brotherhood Inc.-Mandaue Chapter  to help preserve peace and order in the city.

Speaking during the family gathering and Christmas party of the Guardians Brotherhood Inc., Cortes said he plans to create “Bantay Mandaue” that will be tasked to help the police in intelligence gathering.

Qualified guardian members for the Bantay Mandaue will be issued handheld radios.

Cortes, Mandaue City Police Chief Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, and barangay Centro captain Feorillo Latonio were awarded honorary members.

Awards were given to Mayor Cortes and other private individuals for their continuing support to the brotherhood.

Other awardees include Gillamac, Mandaue City Jail Warden Jail Chief Inspector Jessie Calumpag, Association of Barangay Councils president Ernie Manatad, barangay Pagsabungan captain Andres Suson, Priscillo Orcullo, Vilma and Ernesto Ouano.

On the other hand, more than 300 families from the different barangays in Mandaue received packs of rice, canned goods, and other things during the activities, with Cortes helping in the distribution.

Bob Malazarte, national founder and the city founder of Mandaue chapter, said the project “Pinaskuhan sa mga Kabus,” was initiated by the members of the GBI in Mandaue City.

Recognition were also given to the brotherhood’s supporters, namely, Ramon Dakay, Yuding-Tata Suico, Joel Jaron, Priscillo Orcullo, Ginebra San Miguel Ernesto Ouano, Toben Andaya, Vilma Ouano, SMC Lightrage Shipping, Ernie Manatad, Boboy Bacatan, Rudy Cambal, Atty. Augusto Go, Senior Supt.  Noel Gillamac, Jail Chief Inspector Jess Calumpag, Anad PartyList Rep. Pastor Alcover, Bingbing Mayol, and Suzette Limx
