CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City government’s dream to collect taxes from the Mactan Cebu International Airport is within grasp.
The House committee on transportation and the committee on government enterprise approved November 23 the resolution filed by Rep. Arturo Radaza which seeks to collect taxes from the MCIAA with the exemption of its taxiway and runway, lawyer Michael Dignos, Radaza’s liaison officer, said.
Dignos said the resolution will now be endorsed to the Senate.
Dignos also said Mayor Paz Radaza already has a representative in the MCIAA board.
He said the Government Owned and Controlled Corporations or the GOCC law stipulates that a selection committee, and no longer the governor of the province, will appoint at least three representatives from the private sector to the board. - THE FREEMAN
