Cordova town gets fire truck from Luigi

CEBU, Philippines - Sixth district Representative Luis Gabriel Quisumbing has allotted P450,000 for the purchase of medicine and equipment for senior citizens of Cordova town.

This was announced before 130 senior citizens from the 13 barangays by the legislator during a medical mission Saturday he facilitated.

Dr. Napoleon Narario, a geriatrics specialist talked to the elderly about healthy habits, proper diets, and personal hygiene.

Starting next year, each barangay will received their own medical equipment such as nebulizers, weighing scales, and BP apparatus aside from medicine kits that will come from Quisumbing’s office.

Last Saturday, Quisumbing turned over a mini-ambulance worth P450,000 to the Cordova Fire station.

Quisumbing said he allotted such amount from his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) after learning that Cordova since time immemorial never had a firetruck, all the fire station had was a refurbished fire truck donated by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Quisumbing’s office earlier asked the DILG to give the town a fire truck but when it learned that the town is the agency’s priority at present, the solon took an amount from his PDAF to buy one.

A brand new mini-firetruck was turned-over to Vice Mayor Rodrigo Jumao-as and some of its local officials last Saturday.

Quisumbing said that a mini-fire truck suits Cordova considering that most barangays have narrow roads.
