CEBU, Philippines - Strict implementation of traffic laws is needed for the Talisay City government to achieve an orderly situation under the Tabunok flyover area, Superintendent Eddie Recamara, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said.
He said the chaos under the flyover which has been going on for years worsened after the old terminal for tricycles was closed in August.
"The only solution to this problem is the strict implementation of traffic laws," Recamara said.
Recamara witnessed how several tricycle drivers refused to budge despite the city government's existing order to clear the Tabunok flyover area after their clearing operation last Thursday.
After the police and the traffic enforcers left, it was back to the usual business.
Last Tuesday, minority Councilor Val Ylanan, during the council's regular session, moved to re-open the old tricycle terminal in Tabunok as temporary parking area for the city's more than 3,000 tricycle.
But the proposal's approval was deferred since to approve it would supersede the existing ordinance which has already authorized the transfer of the terminal to the Lagtang Public Market. (FREEMAN)
