CEBU, Philippines - Unlike kindergarten teachers in Cebu City, kindergarten teachers in Mandaue City’s public schools have already received their salaries for July, August, and September.
Kindergarten teachers in public schools in Cebu City have not been paid yet their salaries since the start of classes.
Benjamin Tiongzon, the administrative officer of the Mandaue City Schools Division Office in an interview said the Division is now preparing also for the release of the teachers’ salaries for October, November and December.
Tiongzon said kindergarten teachers in the city do not wait too long to be paid because the Division office does not delay the processing of their salaries and helps teachers comply with the requirements.
He said one basic requirement is the submission of their daily time record and a certification from the principal that would show they have rendered their services.
He said most of these kindergarten teachers in the city receive P6,000 per month for holding two 3-hour sessions per day.
Tiongzon said these teachers expressed gratitude when the Department of Education reversed its earlier memorandum circular which allowed them to hold only one session per day.
He said most of the 147 kindergarten teachers in the city are now holding two sessions per day.
He said all kindergarten teachers in the city passed the board exams. - THE FREEMAN
