Gillamac welcomes offer for police station to move to new address

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Police Office director Noel Gillamac welcomes the offer of barangay Opao captain Basilisa Ouano-Icalina to transfer the present police station to an abandoned satellite market of the barangay.

Gillamac said the present police station which is built on top of a creek without a doubt needs a new address.

The station was built during the term of former Mandaue City Mayor now Provincial board member Thadeo Ouano.

He said during the heavy rains last October, water in the creek reached the police station.

Some residents say the police station is the cause of flooding in the area.

Ouano-Icalina may have offered the unused market to the police but she has not in the position to donate the building.

She said the police can stay there while she is still the barangay captain.

The unused building was once offered by former barangay Opao captain now barangay Councilor Joy Ouano as a satellite market.

But the place failed to attract residents. - THE FREEMAN
