Tanods exploiting seized motorcycle?
CEBU, Philippines - A barangay chief of Pooc, Talisay City has denied the barangay has allowed its tanods to use a seized motorcycle for patrolling.
"Wa man mi motor diri. Multicab ra gyud ni among service," Pooc barangay chief Dory Emit said.
Emit, however, said if his tanods are seen driving motorcycles, these must possibly be owned by them.
A reliable source has confided to The FREEMAN that Emit who assumed office December last year has reportedly released a seized motorcycle used by two suspected robbers when they pulled off a heist in Pooc early last year.
The source said that while the two suspects were detained by the police, then barangay chairman Osmundo Manreal Jr. did not turn over the vehicle, as was the procedure, to the police, but kept it inside the barangay hall.
It stayed unused for a while until Emit took office after his election as the new barangay chief.
According to the source, the motorcycle has been running without a plate number, as had been when seized from the criminals.
