Digul Gullas is acting vice mayor
CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Councilor Eduardo “Digul” Gullas III describes his job as acting vice mayor as “hard yet challenging.”
“I find it challenging. Basically, I’m still learning the ropes as a councilor, and now, I’m the acting vice mayor. But I’m glad my fellow councilors are helping me. So, I think I’ll manage,” Digul said.
Being the first councilor, Digul takes over as acting vice mayor while Vice Mayor-on leave Alan Bucao is on a vacation with his family in the USA.
Bucao has been on vacation since October 19 and is expected to be back on Nov 12, which means Digul will still have two more sessions to preside over.
Digul, who is the grandson of the veteran lawmaker Rep. Eduardo Gullas of the first district, however, said he’s preparing himself for the coming two sessions by asking for tips from the experienced councilors.
Although sweating most of the time, the youngest councilor, is first time to sit as the council’s presiding officer, made it through last Tuesday’s regular session, which lasted for about 20 minutes.
Apart from being the session’s presiding officer, being the acting vice mayor, Digul will also take over Bucao’s other tasks, the part where the 20-year-old councilor said is hard, noting that there are problems that need to be addressed.
“Daghan og problema, daghan og trabaho ang vice mayor compared sa councilor. But I’ll try to manage,” he said.
Would he seek a higher position in the 2013 election?
