CEBU, Philippines - The newly formed Mandaue City Drainage System and Flood Control Management Committee will conduct a massive cleanup operation in the city starting October 15.
The committee is comprised of the Cebu Contractors Associations, the 27 barangays, City Engineering Office, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce, MCPO, city hall department heads, DPWH, San Miguel Corporation, and FF Cruz Company.
During a meeting yesterday, the newly formed committee identified six water catchment areas in the city that will be cleaned.
The areas are the Jagobiao catchment, Basak catchment, Mahiga catchment, Old Butuanon river catchment, and the Reclamation catchment.
This Saturday's cleanup operation will start at the Reclamation Area in barangay Subangdaku, Guizo, Mantuyong, Ibabao, Tipolo Centro, and Maguikay.
Contractors yesterday pledged they will send heavy equipment during the cleanup, focusing on canals and manholes.
The clean-up operation will then become a regular Saturday activity in the city. Volunteers who wish to join the activity can inquire from city hall personnel. (FREEMAN)
