CEBU, Philippines - Sixth district Representative Luis Gabriel Quisumbing will seek an audience with the secretary of the Department of Health with regards the discrepancies found in the use of his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) at the Eversley Child Sanitarium and Hospital.
Quisumbing said he wishes to talk with DOH secretary Enrique Ona so he himself could inform the secretary what had transpired in the hospital.
The legislator also said he wants an assurance from the DOH secretary that such shameful incidents will not happen again as he expressed his concern for the plight of his indigent constituents.
Earlier, a fact finding investigation concluded there was indeed some discrepancies in the disbursement of medicines by some personnel of the hospital.
The investigation was conducted after his district office noticed some discrepancies in the use of the legislator’s PDAF in the hospital and immediately sought the help of the DOH-7 which in turn conducted a probe last June.
The fact-finding committee found 245 ‘dubious’ prescriptions and identified several hospital employees committing misdemeanors and lapses in the performance of their official duties and responsibilities.
“This is a very important concern for me and I will ensure that our constituents do not suffer injury from the misuse of public funds which were entrusted to the hospital for our indigent patients badly needing medical assistance," Quisumbing said.
In an earlier interview, Quisumbing said he hopes the internal matters at the Eversley will soon be resolved, especially that he has filed a bill in congress to increase its bed capacity from 50 to 100.
