CEBU, Philippines - A 33-year-old taxi driver survived a knife attack by a robber Sunday evening in barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City

Rogelio Noynay, married, a resident of barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City, driver of Revolution Taxi with Plate no. GWJ 306, was taken to Lapu-Lapu City Hospital after getting stabbed on the neck. He was later transferred to Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).

Police said Noynay was travelling along barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City when a man boarded his taxi and told to take him to barangay Gun-ob.

In Gun-ob, Noynay was told to proceed to barangay Canjulao.

There, the passenger pulled out a knife and pushing it against Noynay's neck, declared a holdup.

Noynay was stabbed when he refused to turn over his earnings.

Wounded, Noynay got off and ran towards a gas station while the armed robber fled.

But the police arrested Richard Gallarde, 18, of barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City, a high school student of Pajo National High School.

He was taken to the hospital where Noynay was being treated.
