Fire victims receive aid

CEBU, Philippines - One hundred thirteen fire victims of sitio Sampaguita in barangay Banilad received P5,000 worth of relief goods from the City Social Welfare Services (CSWS) yesterday afternoon.

The assistance for every individual consisted of a sack of rice, canned goods, and noodles. Mayor Jonas Cortes and CSWS Chief Violeta Cavada witnessed the distribution of the relief goods yesterday afternoon.

The budget for the relief goods was taken from the calamity fund of the city government.

Around 34 homeowners and 79 renters were affected by the fire which hit the area last May 21.

Last month, the 34 Homeowners received P5,000 in financial assistance, the budget for which came from the CSWS.
