All's well at Corona del Mar

CEBU, Philippines - The tension between the homeowners of Corona del Mar in barangay Pooc, Talisay City and Filinvest Development Corporation (FDC) may have disappeared following the cease and desist order issued by Mayor Socrates Fernandez Wednesday but the police are still on their toes.

Superintendent Eddie Recamara, officer-in-charge of the Talisay City Police Station, said they are continuously on alert to maintain peace and order in the area.

Since the other day, however, no blockades in areas of conflict have been put up and no gun-totting incidents have been reported.

Last Tuesday, to block heavy equipment from entering the subdivision, former Capitol security consultant Byron Garcia, newly elected president of the homeowners association of Corona del Mar subdivision, parked his two vehicles in the center of the road leading to Escala subdivision, a newly developed property of FDC.

Fernandez last Wednesday issued a cease and desist order favoring the homeowners' contention that huge trucks regularly traversing the subdivision destroys the road, and exposes children to danger.

Garcia was earlier alleged to have displayed an AK-47 assault rifle, now with the Firearms and Explosives Division of the Police Regional Office-7, to his neighbor Wayne Morris for placing speed bumps to slow down traffic in front of his house.
