Bank employee killed in road mishap

CEBU, Philippines - A 22-year-old woman who worked for a bank in Mandaue City was killed while crossing M. C. Briones in barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City Thursday night when two motor vehicles hit her one after another.

Maria Bresila Luna, single, of sitio Sudlon, barangay Maguikay, who worked for BDO main branch in Gorordo Ave., Cebu City was on her way home last Thursday night when she was hit by an unknown vehicle.

Witnesses said the vehicle did not stop.

As she lay on the pavement, a passenger jeepney, with plate number 352, driven by Michael Ababa, 24, single, of barangay Maghaway, Talisay City hit Luna, and then dragged her for more than 80 meters.

SPO4 Eleazar Saromines of the City Traffic division said Luna was taken to the Mandaue City Hospital where she was declared dead.

Ababa gave himself up and is now detained at the Centro Police station awaiting the filing of charges against him.
