CEBU, Philippines - Residents and motorists passing through barangay Cansojong, Talisay City may have to bear the inconvenience brought about by the dilapidated road there while the city government looks for ways to lick the problem.
City Councilor Rodi Cabigas, chairman on council committee on Infrastructure, said he is not certain yet when the proposed asphalt-overlaying project will be implemented.
"Pending pa sa city engineering ang program of works. Human ana, mangita pa ta og funds para ma-implement," said Cabigas.
Cabigas said since he became councilor, the area has been asphalted by the city government.
But due to the lack of a drainage system, potholes appeared.
Tricycle drivers liken a trip on this road to a boat trip to Siquior.
"Mura gyud tag gaagi sa Siquijor, pwerteng bawra," a driver said.
The city has yet to implement its integrated drainage master plan.
Residents and drivers said it is ironic that former city councilor and Cansojong barangay chief Ronnie Capala, whose house is nearby, could not solve the problem.
Capala lost in his reelection bid last year.
He now serves as one of the consultants of Mayor Socrates Fernandez.
