Mandaue to honor top 10 taxpayers

CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City is set to honor its top 10 taxpayers tonight in Oakridge Pavillion in barangay Banilad as one of the highlights of its 42nd charter day celebration.

Jimmy Pareja of the city's Division of the Local Treasury Operations Unit said the event, which is dubbed as Taxpayer's Night, was conceptualized "to recognize the taxpayers' contribution in helping the city grow."

"These taxpayers do not only bring income to the city, they also provide employment to the city residents," Pareja said.

Rounding out the top 10 awardees are: Visayan Electric Company, Super Metro Gaisano, Vicsal Development Corp, Zuellig Pharma Corp., Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils. Inc., JS Unitrade Merchandise, Inc., Monde Nissin Biscuits Corp., United Laboratories, Inc., Monark Equipment Corp. of the Phils. and Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Cigarette.

Pareja said the city has also awarded these 10 companies with a 10-pecent tax incentive.

Also tonight, the city is set to give recognition to local businesses which have been operating since 1969, the year when Mandaue became a city.

The city named Highland confectionery MFG. Inc., Querubin Construction Supply, Cebu Universal Lumber Co. Inc., Simon Enterprises, San Miguel Corp., Benson Industries Inc.(Philcoil Ind. Inc.), Cenapro Incorporation, Dr. Ignacio Cortes General Hospital, Lucy's Pharmacy, Treasure Island Industrial Corporation and Gal's bakery as the awardees.

The same honors will also be given to the city's top 10 individual taxpayers. The list includes James Yu, Victor Chiongbian, Ferdinand Tio, King Kee Ko, Erramon Aboitiz, Hyman Yap, Raymond Ong, Jimmy Casera, Peter Yap and Johny Uy .

The city has also identified its top 10 corporate taxpayers are tonight's awardees. And these are: San Miguel Brewery, Taipan Development, Cenapro Inc., J.King & Sons Co., Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils., Philippine National Bank, San Miguel Corp,Vel-Ouano Realty Inc., A.D Gothong MFTG. Corp., Inc and Pacific Traders & Corp. — THE FREEMAN
