Australian's firm robbed

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - An Australian national knew right away his business establishment in barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City was robbed when he and his staff reported for work yesterday morning.

Derek Pyra, an Australian national, of legal age, who is one of the owners of Night Bright Asia Pacific Inc., said missing are one server worth P242,000, one Pro-view monitor worth P17,000, two Samsung monitors worth P20,000, a computer network device worth P34,000, and cash box filled with P1,800 and P100 in coins.

PO1 Roche Cabra of the Casuntingan police station has theorized the establishment may have been robbed between Sunday and yesterday, Monday and Tuesday being holidays.

He said no signs of forced entry have been found giving the impression it was an inside job, with the thief using a key.

The police immediately endorsed the incident to the Investigative and Detective Management Bureau (IDMB).

IDMB chief PC/Insp. Rex Lomente said an initial investigation revealed that the establishment lost a large amount of money weeks ago and none of the staff could tell where or how the money was spent.

Lomente said the computer server might have been stolen to prevent the missing money from being traced.

Lomente also said the result of investigation conducted by the SOCO, which lifted fingerprints, is being awaited. - THE FREEMAN
