CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City health department recorded 166 cases of dengue for the first six months of this year.
The figure shows a decrease in dengue cases compared to the same period last year which registered more than 200 cases.
According to City Health Department head, Dr. Rodulfo Berame, the decrease was attributed to the intensified campaign initiated by his office in coordination with the Department of Education and barangays.
Berame said a massive education campaign was implemented in different public elementary and high schools in the city.
"Dako gayud kaayo og natampo ang atong gihimo nga kampanya pag-edukar sa atong kabataan," Berame said.
The Lapu-Lapu City government has set aside P2 million this year for the city health department for use in its campaign against the dreaded disease. — THE FREEMAN
