Mango tree falls on house

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - Due to incessant rain Wednesday, a mango tree lost its grip on the soft soil and fell on a two-story house Thursday evening in barangay Upper Tabok, Mandaue City.

Seven factory workers who were living in the house as renters were alerted to the tree that was gradually falling down by men who were having a drink outside the house.

The workers were identified as Marlou Montafar, 35, Edwin Amancio, 38, Joel Morales, 38, Henry Tabora, 41, Reynaldo Balsa, 38, Anacil, Corillo, and Andres Ylanan, 53.

The extent of damage was estimated to reach P20,000.

Barangay Councilor Josephine Rosal said those left homeless have been endorsed to the City Social Welfare Service.

CSWS has initially given rice and can goods to the workers who are staying at the Tabok mini-gym while their house is awaiting repair. — THE FREEMAN
