CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu provincial government gave a certificate of recognition to the municipal government of Liloan for promoting "Sinandoloy Alang sa Kabusog, Sinanduloy Alang sa Kahimsog," or the SAKSAK program.
Liloan Mayor Vincent Franco "Duke" Frasco received the certificate from Gov. Gwen Garcia and businessman Ramon Aboitiz of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Incorporated.
The provincial government acknowledges barangays, municipalities and cities for their support to the program.
Last year, Frasco led department heads, barangay officials, and residents in planting sweet potatoes in the mountain barangays of Liloan.
The town mayor directed all department heads of the town to include the SAKSAK recipe in meals served during trainings, meetings, and seminars. The recipe involves sweet potatoes mixed with rice.
The SAKSAK program is in line with the provincial government's advocacy to help the public cope with the rising prices of rice and to make the country's staple food more tasty and nutritious. - THE FREEMAN
