CEBU, Philippines - A woman was killed while three others were injured Sunday evening in vehicular mishap at the corners of Plaridel Street and UN Avenue in barangay Cambaro, Mandaue City.
The Mandaue City Traffic Division said the vehicles involved were a BMW car, with plate number XAV-881, and driven by Jessie Joel Demanuel of barangay Jugan, Consolacion town and a Toyota van, with plate number GPZ-531, driven by its owner Carmelito Canoy.
Canoy was with his wife Victoria, 45, and 16-year-old daughter Niña when the accident happened.
Investigator PO2 Dante Flores said the BMW came from Consolacion and upon reaching the corners of Plaridel Street and UN Avenue, the Toyota van that was coming from the opposite direction was allegedly about to turn left for Jayme Street in barangay Paknaan.
As the van was about to execute the turn, a head-on collision occurred.
The Toyota car was dragged 89 feet away, hitting a passing tricycle on its way to barangay Paknaan. It was driven by Landrito Brigoli.
The BMW also hit two parked vehicles.
Canoy's wife, Victoria died on the spot, while he and his daughter sustained injuries to the different part of their bodies and were brought to Perpetual Soccour Hospital in Cebu City.
Demanuel who also sustained injuries was taken to Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City.
Flores said the police have yet to determine who was at fault.
An investigation has been postponed for the reason that the drivers involved are being treated in hospitals. (FREEMAN)
