Odilao shows interest in running for village chief
CEBU, Philippines - A Talisay City councilor has admitted he is amenable to the idea of running for barangay chief if and when the opportunity presents itself.
City Councilor Bernard Odilao, who is now serving his third and final term in the city council, said he has not yet considered that thought but is willing to if there's an offer.
"Why not? Panerbisyo man gihapon na. Kung padaganon ta's atong mga leaders ug mga constituents, why not?" said Odilao in an interview.
Odilao said if ever he'd be happy to return to barangay Poblacion as one of its officials, the very place where he started his career before he was elected councilor of the city.
Odilao, whose family hails from this village, was number one councilman of Poblacion in the 90s.
He served his full term before running for councilor in the city.
And if he decided to run, Odilao could face incumbent barangay chief Teodoro Belleza, a second-term barangay chief.
Odilao is however not weighing the odds yet because "it is too early to tell" and that he has still a lot to do before his term ends.
