Two young Koreans claim losing money to snatchers

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - Two young Koreans went to the police Friday evening to claim they were robbed of P100,000 by two snatchers while they were strolling in barangay Pusok in Lapu-Lapu City.

But the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) doubts the Koreans' story. It said it will investigate first before it makes a conclusion.

At the moment, the LLCPO suspects the Koreans thought about the plan for the purpose of collecting insurance.

Jin A Park and Bom Yoon, both 19 years old, single, of Guang Ju, South Korea, temporarily reside at a dormitory inside LEE Friends School near the Marcelo Fernan Bridge in barangay Pusok .

The Koreans said they were followed while strolling at around 11:10 p.m. Friday.

They said the robbers suddenly approached them and took their bags, leaving them both in shock.

Jin said his bag contained a cellular phone worth P28,000, a digital camera worth P12,000, and P13,000.

BOM said he lost a cellular phone worth P32,000 and P 53,000.

But Insp. William Homoc, the chief of the Crime Against Person Department, said some foreigners in the past concocted similar stories to collect insurance. (FREEMAN)
