Mandaue worker linked to fake franchises resigns
CEBU, Philippines - The employee who was accused of issuing fake franchises to tricycles operators in Mandaue City has resigned from city hall.
City administrator James Abadia during a press conference said Pureza Sollano who holds the position of administrative officer 3, tendered her resignation early this week.
In her resignation letter, Sollano admitted to Mayor Cortes the lapses she had committed and regrets what she had done and is asking for forgiveness from him.
Sollano said her health has deteriorated and can no longer bear the stress. She said her doctor has advised her to resign from her job.
She has resigned before an administrative case can be filed against her.
Last week city legal officer Giovanni Tiannero recommended the filing of an administrative case against Sollano for her alleged involvement in the issuance of fake franchises to motorcycle operators in the city.
Tiannero recommended that she be administratively charged with grave misconduct and serious dishonesty with a penalty of dismissal from service.
But with her resignation, Abadia said the city can no longer pursue the filing of an administrative case against her.
However, the city will still consider the filing of a criminal case.
