CEBU, Philippines - A 70-year-old retired seaman was found dead inside a private cemetery in barangay Cogon, Cordova town yesterday morning with several stab wounds and a cut across the head.
Police identified the fatality as Catalino Inoc, separated, of barangay San Miguel, and a pensioner of the Social Security System.
The suspects who are at large are cousins Elizalde Ynting and Arnel Ynting, both of sitio Calan, barangay Poblacion.
Edgar Pating, a pedicab driver said that he passed by the cemetery about 6:25 in the morning he noticed a body lying prone and then called the police.
Police recovered a bloodied stone and an ice pick which possibly were used by the suspects in killing Inoc.
A small wallet containing P220 in different denominations possibly owned by one of the suspects was found about 100 meters away while identification cards belonging to Inoc were also found nearby.
Inoc and the suspects were last seen at the Island Grill in barangay Poblacion having a drink.
Hours later, they took a ride on a pedicab and headed toward barangay Cogon.
Senior Police Officer 1 Henry Amores, Cordova police investigator said robbery was the sole motive of the suspects after the wallet of Inoc believed to have undetermined amount of cash was missing.
Police suspect that Inoc was killed between 4:00 am to 5:00 am.
Inoc's cadaver was taken to the St. Francis Funeral Homes. (FREEMAN)
