CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City treasurer Regal Oliva has denied allegations he would be heading the Mandaue City Assessor's Office while his mother would be taking over his position.
Regal said the speculations are baseless and if these were true his mother Ofelia will be the first one to know.
Regal said the rumors making the rounds at city hall surprised him and his mother because they have not received any communication from the Bureau of Local Government and Finance (BLGF) regarding the transfer.
The mother has served as Cebu City treasurer since 2009 upon the request of former Mayor Tomas Osmeña while the son has just assumed his post as OIC Mandaue City treasurer last June 10 upon the recommendation of Mayor Jonas Cortes to the BLFG.
Regal said the BLFG can recall his position but on a valid ground such as loss of confidence. He said until now he is enjoying the mayor's trust.
Regal also denied reports his mother will take a one month leave due to health considerations before she is transferred to Mandaue City.
Regal said his mother is in the best of health.
"If my mom will be transferred, it will be a big loss to Cebu City and a big gain for Mandaue as my mom's performance in Cebu City is unquestionable," he said.
He said that if the reports are true, he will demand that he be transferred to Cebu City and hold the position of his mother.
"Once tangtangon ko ug Mandaue mo-request sad ko og transfer to Cebu City, mag-swap mi kay lain man sad kayo ug mag-usa mi og LGU," Regal said.
And to end all speculations a very reliable source who requested anonymity called The FREEMAN yesterday to say that Ofelia's term of office as Cebu City treasurer has been extended to another six months by the BLFG. - THE FREEMAN
