Task force to probe death of Japanese

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City Police Office has created "Task Force Ukena" to focus on the investigation of the death of a Japanese national inside his rented house at a subdivision in barangay Agus.

Lapu-Lapu City police chief Senior Superintendent Anthony Obenza said the task force will focus on the death of Ukena Takao and gather more evidence and identify the persons behind his death.

The results of the autopsy report showed that the cause of the death was asphyxia by strangulation.

The family of Takao and a Japanese consul visited the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office to ask for details of the investigation.

The police believe that Rogelio Paracuellas, the husband of the caretaker of Ukena, is not involved in Takao's death.

But Police investigators said they will invite Paracuellas and his wife to shed light on the incident.

The dead body of Ukena was found inside his room with an electric wire around his neck.

The Japanese wallet and other valuables were reported missing, police said.

Police are talking with security guards of KB Subdivision in barangay Agus and reviewing CCTV cameras.
