Consolacion, Dapitan to ink sisterhood ties
CEBU, Philippines - Officials of the municipality of Consolacion will visit the Shrine City of Dapitan next week to form a sisterhood relationship.
Consolacion municipal Councilor Nilo Ferraren told The Freeman that the Dapitan City council adopted a resolution last June 21 inviting the town's officials to visit the city.
Ferraren, a native of Dapitan City, said Vice Mayor Aurelio Damole and Mayor Teresa Alegado and the members of the municipal council have accepted the invitation.
Ferraren said the sisterhood agreement between the two local government units will bring the two cities closer together.
Dapitan has just established a sisterhood agreement with the city of Litomerice of the Czech Republic.
The resolution said a sisterhood agreement would foster the sharing of ideas, aspirations, and common interests and concerns. At the same time it would open the bridge for a free exchange of tourism, social, cultural, economic, scientific, legislative, administrative and advance communication technologies for the benefit of both governments and residents between the cities apart from promoting and enhancing the tourism industry, goodwill and foster lasting relationship between the people of both local government units. - THE FREEMAN
