Philhealth declares hospital "Center of Quality"

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) has declared Mandaue City Hospital as a "Center of Quality."

The accreditation was given to the city-owned hospital after it passed the standards set by Philhealth, having passed the evaluation made in areas such as patient's rights, safe practice, patient care, information management, leadership and management.

The "Certificate of Accreditation as a Center of Quality" dated May 23, 2011 was signed by its president and chief operating officer Dr. Rey Aquino.

Last January 12, Philhealth issued a certification declaring the hospital as a "Center of Safety ."

The two-year accreditation of the hospital as a "center of quality" and its two-year accreditation as a "center of safety" are proofs that the health care services are "safe, efficient and a haven of quality output and services beneficial to both Philhealth members and dependents," Philhealth said.

The hospital, which is adjacent to the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex, is a 25-bed secondary hospital.

Chief of Hospital Dr. Oscar Quirante said the accreditations have inspired him and his staff to serve the community more with confidence.

The hospital, which is actually operating on a 50-bed capacity, caters not only to Mandaue residents but also to patients from the Lapu-Lapu City, Consolacion and Liloan towns.

Philhealth, through its vice president for Central Visayas William Chavez, awarded the Cortes administration last year with a plaque of appreciation for enrolling 25,000 indigents families in Philhealth.  (FREEMAN)
