Owner gets back urn containing pa's ashes
CEBU, Philippines - An urn that contained the ashes of a loved one was returned to its owner after this and other things were stolen Saturday from a car parked in one of the commercial establishments along A. S. Fortuna Street in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.
Last Saturday afternoon, 54-year-old Eulalia Uy of Hilltop, Consolacion town parked her Starex van with plate number YCX-130.
While inside the establishment to buy something, someone opened the van's door allegedly with a false key and took Uy's laptop worth P35,000, a digital camera worth P22,000, and an urn which contained the ashes of her father.
However, the urn together with some credit cards and important documents owned by Uy were recovered by a priest inside the St. Therese Parish Church in barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
The police were immediately notified.
Theft and Robbery Section Chief P/Insp. Ramil Morpos of the Mandaue City Police Office yesterday said the urn with the ashes still intact was turned over yesterday by the operatives of the Mabolo Police station to its owner when they met in his office yesterday morning. (FREEMAN)
