- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - Two persons were held up Thursday in separate incidents by two motorcycle riding men along Ouano Avenue at the Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

At around 2:10 pm, Jonathan Recilla,31 of barangay Calibngan,Carcar city, a sales collector/delivery man of CKY Decoration products based in barangay Bakilid, Mandaue City alleged he was held up by two men on a motorcycle after parking his Hi-Ace van at a vacant lot at Ouano Avenue.

Recilla said he handed over his collection of P24,000 and his cellular phone worth P2,200.

Theft and Robbery Section chief P/Insp. Ramil Morpos said the police doubt Recilla’s statements because he reported the incident seven hours after he was robbed.

Morpos said instinct would compel someone to report to the police for something bad that has happened to him.

But Recilla told the police he had to finish all his work that day before deciding to proceed to the police station.

Odessa Canas, 27, married of Cabreros, Mambaling Cebu City was injured in her right arm after refusing to give her bag while walking along Ouano Avenue on her way to the International Bar Complex in barangay Mantuyong Thursday evening.

She said that while she was walking, two men on a motorcycle sidled to her at the same time the man behind the driver grabbed her bag.

But she said she held on to her bag.

The man grabbing her bag drew a knife and struck her arm. When she let go of her bag, the man picked it up, and the robbers fled.

She said her bag contained a Neo laptop worth P15,000 and a Samsung cellular phone worth P6,500. (FREEMAN)
