"Purok" officers to take oath today, help Liloan protect the environment
CEBU, Philippines - More than one thousand residents in 14 barangays of Liloan town are expected to witness today the oath-taking of "purok" officers who will help the municipal government implement programs aimed at addressing problems involving the environment.
Liloan Mayor Vincent Franco "Duke" Frasco told The FREEMAN that he believes the success of the program of the town's in addressing the problem of environment and implement the clean and green program will depend on the support and cooperation of the people.
Officials of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Cebu province are also scheduled to attend today's affair to brief the members of the purok residents on the importance of the "purok system," a potent tool for achieving development goals.
Vice Mayor Merelito Surita said the members of the sangguniang bayan is fully behind Frasco in this activity.
Leo Salundaguti, barangay captain of Yati and president of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) said barangay officials also support Frasco's administration. — THE FREEMAN
