Cops praised for early solution of Teban case

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Police Office yesterday morning commended Talisay City acting police chief Eddie Recamara and six of his men for the "swift" solution of last Monday's robbery involving Provincial Board member Julian "Teban" Daan.

Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador Jr. personally went to the Talisay City Police Station (TCPS) in barangay Poblacion to give the certificates commending Recamara, Inps. Hugo Rio Ipong, Insp. Ricardo Echavez, PO3, Rey Bucao, PO3 Benedicto Lasque, PO3 Mikie Espina, and PO2 Roy Lofranco for the arrest of Ramses Abatayo and Julius Racaza, suspects in last Monday's robbery heist.

The short and simple ceremony was held in front of the police station.

Comendador, in his short speech, said the recognition was not only to boost the morale of the seven police officers but to serve as an "inspiration" to others.

For his part, Daan said he was thankful to the police for their effort in resolving the crime.

"Ang mga sagbot sa atong katilingban mahadlok na mohimo og dautan kay paspas man ang aksyon sa atong kapulisan," he said.

And as a sign of his gratitude, Daan assured that at the session at the Provincial Board this Monday, he will file a resolution commending the TCPS.

He has also pledged to give two computer sets to the station to further its efficiency in tracking down criminals.

Meanwhile, the city police yesterday charged Abatayo and Racaza with robbery with violence and intimidation before the Talisay City Prosecutor's Office.

Recamara said Racaza, who vehemently denied participation in the crime, has to be charged, too, as there are witnesses who testified that he was there in the vicinity of the Daan's house allegedly as a lookout. – THE FREEMAN
