Lapu-Lapu's "Kadaugan Street Party" a big winner

CEBU, Philippines - The business sector and barangay officials took the credit for the success of the first "Kadaugan Street Party in Lapu-Lapu City," which was held last April 29 and 30.

Lapu-Lapu City Councilor Harry Don Radaza, chairman of the first street party," said despite a small budget (the city council allocated P450,000) and a short period to prepare, the activity was a winner.

Radaza said the members of the committee of the first Kadaugan Street Party will meet Thursday to assess the celebration.

The result of the meeting will be submitted to Mayor Paz Radaza.

"Bisan apiki kita sa panahon ug ingon man sa budget, apan nakita nato nga dako kaayo ang kalampusan sa atong gihimong dakong kalihukan," Councilor Radaza said.

Featured during the 2-day affair were a car show, tricycle contest, live bands, and the Rampada.

The winners in the Rampada were declared immediately after the contest.

The Rampada award went to Reyna Bulakna-Viva Imperial and a corresponding P10,000; the Best Headdress award that also went to Reyna Bulakna-Viva Imperial was good for P5,000; Gun-ob grabbed the Best Barangay Rampada award to pocket P5,000; Gun-ob also won Best Costume for another P5,000; Gun-ob was also voted the Most Colorful for yet another P5,000; Most Lively Barangay went to Buaya which received P5,000.

The winners for open category were: Viva Imperial, P50,000; Second place Gun-ob received P30,000, and third prize winner barangay Buaya received P20,000.

Under the barangay level category: Barangay Gun-ob received P30,000; second place winner Barangay Buaya received P20,000, and third place Barangay Looc received P10,000. (FREEMAN NEWS)
