Cities enforce traffic rerouting schemes

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines - Traffic Officials in the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue have implemented rerouting schemes to minimize congestions and delays.

Frank Brazil, chief of the Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Management System, said measures introduced in barangay Basak up to barangay Marigondon have produced positive results.

Multi-cabs for hire from Mactan Export Processing Zone bound for Mandaue City will pass through the Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge. Before they pass M. L. Quezon Avenue and then pass the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge.

Brazil said traffic in these places is monitored daily.

In Mandaue City, Edwin Ermac of the Mandate City Traffic Enforcement and Management, said traffic passing through Plaridel Street up to Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge has produced good results although a number of commuters and motorists complain about traffic being rerouted toward the Marcelo B. Fernan Bridge.
