CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City fiesta committee yesterday announced the postponement of the most awaited "Biggest Bibingkahan" in the city.
Clark Pelaez, an official of the Mandaue City fiesta committee, said the "bibingkahan" was moved from April 27 to May 10 to allow preparations for the activity which will be participated in by the Department of Education, well-known bibingka makers in the city, and some barangay volunteers.
The "bibingkahan" is expected to break a world record in the Guinness Book of Records as the "biggest bibingka."
It will commence on May 9 for the preparation of ingredients but its presentation will done at 3 p.m. on May 10 inside the Mandaue City Sports Complex.
Pelaez said the "biggest bibingka" will be cooked in 100 barrel ovens to be prepared by the city government wherein 100 sacks of rice will be used.
Pelaez also said "bibingka" is not a rice cake but a rice bread since it uses yeast. Cakes use baking powder, he said.
After the presentation, city residents can then have a taste of the "bibingka." (FREEMAN)
