Gang members that cannibalize cars arrested
CEBU, Philippines - Four members of the "Basag Kotse" gang were arrested after breaking the windshield of a car parked in front of the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu-Mandaue (UCLM) in sitio Kalubihan, barangay Looc, Mandaue City last Sunday.
Car owner Leonardo Berjame, 55, was awakened by the noise created by the pounding on his car's windshield at around 4 a.m. Sunday. He saw the robbers and shouted at them but the robbers quickly fled with an engine distributor cap valued at P8,000.
Berjame then called the police and then chased the robbers.
He caught one, a 14-year-old, and turned him over to the Opao Police station.
There the juvenile told the police who his cohorts were.
The police then arrested Raymart Noval, 29, of Cordova town while he was walking along barangay Bakilid.
Medio Anore, 30 and Jonathan Delfin, 39, both residents of barangay Pahina Central, Cebu City, were arrested at a parking area near their place yesterday morning.
The gang members told police they had robbed many times in the past but this was the first time they were caught.
All four suspects are detained at the Opao Police station.
