Man shot for refusing to part with money meant for pan de sal

CEBU, Philippines - A man was taken to hospital after being shot for allegedly failing to give in to the wishes of a group of men who tried to shake him down yesterday dawn.

Armando Ycong, 24, of BF Homes in sitio Abuno, barangay Pajac in Lapu-Lapu City sustained wounds on his right thigh and right abdomen.

PO2 John Carlo Jocutan of the Homicide section yesterday said that at around 4 a.m. yesterday, Ycong went out to buy pan de sal.

On his way, he was met by an allegedly drunk Joel Eyas and companions who asked money from him. 

Ycong refused to hand over his money which was just enough to buy pan de sal.

Eyas then allegedly shot Ycong with a shotgun.

Neighbors who witnessed the incident took Ycong to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital but was advised to go to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. –
