Mandaue central school alumni to provide togas to graduating students

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City Central School alumni will spend for the togas of this year's graduating students as the school marks its 100th anniversary.

Graduation rites will be held on April 6.

Dr. Susana Cabahug, who is the current president of the MCCS, yesterday said the Alumni will pay for the togas of 570 elementary students.

Cabahug said alumni members from all over the world purchased 100 togas at P250 each.

Alumni vice president Jose Lozano Jr. lent 50 togas while another 420 togas were rented at P40 each.

After graduation, the togas will be turned over to the school so that these could again be used for future graduation exercises.

The alumni association is still accepting donations for more purchases of togas. On the other hand, it has lined up various programs and activities which would start from April 6 until May 8 in time for the city fiesta.

The anniversary's theme is "Mandaue City Central @ 100: Remembering the Past, Celebrating the Present, Building the Future."

Among the highlights of the month-long activities is the unveiling of the MCCSAA Centennial marker by alumni officials, MCCS Principals and Priests on April 6.

Alumni members will join the Santacruzan Pageant at the City Plaza while the Alumni Homecoming will take place at the Mandaue City Sports Complex and Cultural Center wherein veteran showbiz actress Caridad Sanhez who is also an alumni of the school will be one of the guests of honor .

Sanchez graduated at MCCS in1948.

Other activities include community services such as medical mission, free legal services, and a local and overseas jobs fair.  (FREEMAN)
