Lapu-Lapu needs more cops again

- Jose P. Sollano -

CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City officials have requested the Police Regional Office-7 for more personnel for the Lapu-Lapu City Police Department on account of an increasing population.

The request is in support of the appeal of Lapu-Lapu City Police Chief, Police Senior Superintendent Anthony Obenza, for more men.

Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong and members of the city council said Lapu-Lapu being a highly urbanized city and a lone congressional district needs more policemen.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza, aware of the lack of police personnel, has tapped the services of barangay tanods or Barangay Peace Officers.

Student police have also been organized in every public elementary and high school in the city. — (FREEMAN)
