Fire hits house

CEBU, Philippines - A residential house was in part burned after a fire broke out in barangay Lagtang, Talisay City last Saturday, the first fire to hit the city this month.

Abel Segismundo, building evaluator of the city fire department, said the fire started in one of the rooms of the two-story house owned by Constancio Despi Jr.

The fire was over in 30 minutes.

Damage to property was pegged at P75,000.

Fisherman's lower extremities found

 

Scuba divers found last Sunday afternoon along the seawaters of barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City the lower extremities of the man who was declared missing Thursday evening after a compressor of the fishing boat he was watching over exploded.

The discovered body parts were taken to Cebu Rolling Hills.

His hands were recovered a day after he died.

Last Thursday evening, Eugenio together with other fishermen who were neighbors of his brother in barangay Punta Engaño, went fishing along the seawaters of Pandanon island in Bohol.

At Around 10:00, Eugenio told his brother Tereso to be left behind to guard the boat from thieves while his brothers and neighbor went home.

At around 11:30 p.m., residents of the place heard a loud explosion but most of them dismissed it as someone exploding dynamite. — Flor Z. Perolina

PUJ passengers robbed

Four jeepney passengers lost cash and cellular phones to three holdup men Sunday evening along the national highway in barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City.

A police report said the passenger jeep came from Liloan town and was on its way to Mandaue city when at past 9 pm last Sunday when the robbery was held.

The passengers said two of the men were armed with knives while another one had a gun.

The police are now looking for one Chuckie Layco of barangay Jagobiao after the passengers had identified him as one of the robbers. — Flor Z. Perolina
