Drug suspect eludes arrest

CEBU, Philippines - A drug suspect, who may have sensed he was being set up by the police, escaped arrest by running away from his house after completing a transaction with a poseur buyer last Tuesday noon in barangay Mantuyong, Mandaue City.

Joseph Guiray, alias “Sipsip,” took with him the P200 buy-bust money but left behind illegal drugs.

After the transaction with a poseur buyer was completed, Guiray may have noticed the buyer signaling to the police.

Operatives of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Task Group (CAIDSOTG), led by their chief P/Insp. Henry Bancoleta, gave chase but failed to catch Guiray.

However, cohorts Jobert Fuentes, of legal age, and a juvenile, both residents of barangay Guizo, were arrested and detained at the Mandaue city police station. – (FREEMAN)
