Boholst steps down
MANILA, Philippines - Mandaue City administrator Briccio Boholst has stepped down from his post at city hall.
Boholst who has been the city administrator in the administration of Mayor Jonas Cortes for three years and seven months tendered his resignation last Monday afternoon.
It was the second time Boholst had tendered his resignation.
He tendered a resignation letter in December last year but the mayor did not accept it.
Although the last resignation letter was dated February 23, it was only endorsed to the Mayor's Office last Monday afternoon.
This time the mayor accepted it.
"It has been a pleasure working for a change in the way things have been run in the city in the past years. I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve the city. It has been such an enjoyable three years and seven months," Boholst's letter stated.
He also said in his letter that he can make himself available during the transition period.
Boholst said he will answer all questions during a press conference he will call today.
The mayor, however, has not issued any statement regarding the resignation.
Lawyer Ernesto Maringuran, the asst. Human Resource Management Officer, will be the officer in charge while Cortes scouts for Boholst's replacement.
Expected to take over Boholst's position is either former board member Wenceslao Gakit or lawyer Francisco Amit. (FREEMAN)
