CEBU, Philippines - A man who tried to appease two men who were quarrelling in Cabahug St., barangay Mabolo Sunday ended up being shot and killed.
Pedro Arsolon, 60, was shot on the chest allegedly by Michael Macapaz who remains at large. His alleged cohort, brother Edgar Macapaz, 40, was arrested.
PO2 Jodan Batucan of the Homicide Section said Arsolon approached Edgar and told him not to create trouble in the neighborhood.
Batucan said Edgar, who was drunk and armed with a 20-inch-long bolo, was arguing with the Arsolon's son, Ernie, while having a drink.
Edgar turned his ire on Arsolon who swung at him with his bolo. Arsolon escaped unhurt.
At this juncture, Michael, who was earlier told by his brother Edgar about his verbal tussle with Ernie, suddenly appeared and fired at Arsolon several times before fleeing.
Arsolon's wife, Lorita, 58, saw the shooting.
Arsolon did not reach the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center alive.
Responding personnel of the Mobile Patrol Group arrested Edgar and temporarily detained at the Cebu City Police Office while Michael escaped.
Batucan said the brothers will be charged with murder
