CEBU, Philippines - Big business establishments in Mandaue city support the city government’s beautification projects.
During a meeting initiated by the City Agricultural Office Tuesday, business establishments assured the responsibility of beautifying the areas in front of their respective establishments.
Owners said they will utilize their own people to plant trees and flowering plants in front of their establishments.
These establishments include F.F. Cruz and Co., Inc, Parkmall, Cebu Doctors’ University, Nito’s Auto Supply Inc., and Taft Property, all located at the Reclamation Area, University of Cebu-Lapu-Lapu –Mandaue along A.C. Cortes, and San Miguel Brewery, at M.C. Briones Street.
Nature Spring and Coca-Cola Inc., after failing to send representatives to the meeting, informed the agriculture office they are supporting the program.
Evangeline Masilong, the marketing officer of SuperMetro Gaisano also said her establishment will also mobilize its housekeepers for the beautification project.
Sarah Walker-Cortes, wife of Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, who is in the forefront of the beautification and greening program of the city said one component of the program is to provide trash bins for garbage.
“The adverse effect of climate change can be mitigated by planting trees or flowers and by proper garbage disposal,” said Madame Cortes.
Christopher Batobalonos of Taft Property Ventures Dev. Corp. proposed the idea of coming up with a master plan for uniformity and coherence which was agreed by all.
Romerlinda Garces of San Miguel Corporation for her part said her company has involved the wives of their employees in maintaining the lane divider in front of SMC.
She also proposed that each company come up with a landmark in their area of responsibility that is distinctive of the city.
City agriculturist Bonifacio Cabahug Jr. for his part committed to provide the plants or trees and the regular watering of the plants now that they have three available water tankers. – THE FREEMAN
