Luigi asks DPWH to fund Mandaue's drainage plan

CEBU, Philippines - Sixth District Rep. Gabriel Luigi Quisumbing has requested the Department of Public Works and Highways central office for funds for the improvement of the drainage system in Mandaue City.

In a talk with The FREEMAN, Quisumbing said the drainage problem besetting both Mandaue and Cebu cities is alarming and needs immediate action.

The sixth district solon said DPWH officials in Manila have assured him an allocation would be provided next year.

"Dili man gyud ni madali-dali nato sa pagpagawas ang budget sa national, mao nga ang atong mahimo mao lang gayud ang paghimo’g follow up ngadto nila," Quisumbing said.

He said that the drainage problem plaguing barangays Bakilid and Banilad needs to be prioritized because of the forthcoming opening of a mall.

The city government of Mandaue has allocated an initial P30 million for drainage projects.

City officials say a bigger amount is needed to address the drainage problem in the entire city of Mandaue.
