Consolacion to mark founding day Feb. 14

CEBU, Philippines - The municipal government of Consolacion has lined up different activities for the celebration of the 91st Founding Day of Consolacion or "Adlaw sa Consolacion" on February 14.

Consolacion Mayor Teresa Alegado, over-all-chairperson of this year's "Adlaw sa Consolacion" said the theme this year is "Promoting our Culture by Valuing Nature."

The one-day celebration will open with a Eucharistic celebration to be officiated by Rev. Father Arnulfo Rendon and other visiting priests.

It will also be followed by a parade to be participated by municipal and barangay officials, department heads, municipal employees, elementary and secondary school heads.

The literary musical program at the Sta. Lucia Football Field in barangay Nangka will follow.

Invited to the town for the celebrations are sixth district Rep. Gabriel "Luigi" Quisumbing, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, and Provincial Board members Thadeo Ouano and Arleigh Sitoy.

The "Adlaw sa Consolacion" will be highlighted by the "Pasundayag sa Sarok" to be participated by ten contingents from Consolacion National High School, Cabangahan National High School, Garing National High School, Jugan National High School, Lanipga National High School, Consolacion National High School (Night Class), Pulpogan National High School, Tayud National High School, Tolotolo National High School, Tugbungan National High School, and Consolacion Community College.

On this day, the newly-completed Jugan-Tayud Bridge will be inaugurated.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia will lead the inauguration ceremony.

The celebration will end with a fireworks display.  (FREEMAN)
