CEBU, Philippines - A woman committed suicide yesterday morning inside her neighbor's house in sitio Ipil-Ipil, barangay Basak-Mambaling, Cebu City after her Japanese husband allegedly left her.
Norma Indo, 43, hung herself in the ceiling at the second floor of the house with an electrical wire with the other end tied to her neck.
Houseowner Adelina Orosco was about to get something upstairs when she saw Indo already dead.
She quickly sought help from neighbors who brought down the woman before the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) arrived.
Orosco said she always caught Indo staring blankly after her Japanese husband and their child left her.
She said Indo sent letters and e-mails to her husband but she received no answer.
Police Officer 2 Edario Manatad said Indo had once told neighbors and friends that she was ending her life.
"Sige lang na siya og panganti kuno nga maghikog kay wala na kunoy bili iyang kinabuhi," Manatad said.
Manatad said that when the Japanese national left Indo, she preferred to stay with Orosco as a house helper.
Indo's remains were taken to St. Francis Funeral Homes in barangay Labangon for autopsy.
