Aussie says 3 women stole his belongings

CEBU, Philippines - An Australian national has sought the help of authorities after three women allegedly stole his brief case that contained cash and other valuable items.

John Edward Nielsen and his girlfriend Claire pointed to a certain Patricia Balakat as among the culprits. They identified Balakat based on the resume she reportedly gave Nielsen to help him find her an Australian partner.

Nielsen is temporarily residing in Barangay Lagtang, Talisay City.

The briefcase reportedly contained AUD5,300, three rings worth AUD2,000 AUD, a silver ballpen $50 AUD, a check book, a solid round silver belt decoration amounting to 100 AUD, keys, a pocket watch worth $400 AUD, and important documents.

Based on the initial investigation of the city police, an unidentified woman approached Nielsen six months ago and asked that he help her find an Australian partner for her daughter. Nielsen reportedly told the woman to see him at his house so he could take pictures of the daughter.

Just last Sunday, the said woman reportedly met with Nielsen again and said she would let him meet her daughter.

The next day, the mother and daughter, Patricia, went to Nielsen’s house in Barangay Lagtang, Talisay City. Another woman was reportedly with them but she chose to stay outside the house. While Nielsen was taking pictures of Patricia, her mother allegedly discretely snuck inside Nielsen’s bedroom where the brief case was placed.

Nielsen said he only discovered that his brief case was missing after the three women had left. – THE FREEMAN
