Missing fishermen safe

-

CEBU, Philippines - The fishermen who were reported missing last Monday are safe.

According to a report over dyAB, the son of one of the fishermen had received a text message from relatives in Cuaming, Bohol that his father is safe.

It was Oliver Mabala who reported to the Talisay City Police about his missing father last Monday.

He told authorities that his father, Bonifacio Mabala, 64, and fellow fishermen had persisted on setting sail on board a pump boat around 3am last Sunday despite the bad weather. The group was heading to Cuaming, but Oliver said he did not receive any word from his father after 24 hours, which prompted him seek police help.

It turned out that the fishermen sought refuge from an island near Cuaming when they encountered big waves. - Liv G. Campo/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
